What is the difference between the decorative rock Pete Lien & Sons supplies?

Pete Lien & Sons supplies a wide range of decorative rock at various locations around SD, WY and CO. Decorative Rock is split into to primary groups: river rock (smooth and rounded) or crushed stone (angular)

River Rock comes in a variety of sizes and colors, from pea sized (ie: Pea Gravel) to 1-2", to boulder sizes. This category of rock is a washed gravel rock known for it's smooth edges, rounded texture, and rustic aesthetics. It is known as River Rock because the rock has been worn rounded and smooth overtime due to moving water. River Rock is often mined near a riverbed.

Crushed Stone also comes in a variety of size and colors. Sizes range from powder fines, all the way up to 48" boulders. Pete Lien & Sons' crushed stone options range from a red / pink color to grey colors. This stone is mined from a limestone or sandstone mineral deposit and processed through a crushing system. Leaving the edges angular.
