May 2025-Rapid City, SD -The South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks Department (GF&P) announced on Tuesday, May 20th that Pete Lien & Sons, will serve as the lead sponsor for the state’s long-awaited shooting sports complex currently under development in the Black Hills region. As part of this sponsorship agreement, the new facility will bear the company's name, officially becoming the Pete Lien & Sons Shooting Sports Complex.
The announcement marks a major milestone in the development of the 400-acre facility, which has been in the planning stages for several years and is now under active construction. The complex is located approximately ten miles north of Rapid City, in Meade County, and broke ground in late 2023. It is expected to open to the public in the fall of 2025.
The partnership underscores a shared commitment to outdoor recreation, public safety, and responsible firearms education.
Once completed, the Pete Lien & Sons Shooting Sports Complex will offer a comprehensive array of services and amenities for recreational shooters, hunters, law enforcement, and competitive marksmen alike.
Planned features include multiple shooting ranges accommodating various firearms and shooting disciplines, as well as training and education facilities designed to promote safe and responsible gun use. The complex will also host local, regional, and national shooting competitions, making it a key destination for the shooting sports community.
According to Pete Lien, President of Pete Lien & Sons, Inc. “While US Secretary of Homeland Security, Kristi Noem was SD Governor, she asked us to sponsor this great facility. We found that her goals and our company goals were aligned, as it will support kids, military, and law enforcement. Also, it helps highlight that we are strong supporters of the second amendment and will draw in shooting sports enthusiasts from the US and the rest of the free world. I look forward to our current and future generations enjoying this facility.”
