Pete Lien & Sons Celebrates Jonathon Rail Spur Project

LARAMIE, WY- In November of 2025, Pete Lien & Sons commemorated a major milestone with a Golden Spike event celebrating the successful completion of the Jonathon Rail Spur and the strong collaboration that made it possible.

Pete Lien & Sons has completed the Jonathon Rail Spur, a strategic investment that connects the Jonathon Quarry Complex directly to customers across North America. This new rail link improves efficiency and reduces costs while expanding access to our premium calcium carbonate, limestone, and the highest quality calcium oxide and calcium hydroxide products available in the USA.

This achievement was made possible through the partnership and support of the Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT) and Union Pacific Railroad, along with the dedicated efforts of teams across Pete Lien & Sons locations.

This project also carries historical significance. The original Transcontinental Railroad was built approximately two miles west of today’s alignment along Highway 30 in 1868 and later relocated in 1899. Now, 126 years later, amid rising transportation costs, the Jonathon Rail Spur positions Pete Lien & Sons to utilize one of the most efficient and reliable methods of bulk transportation.

More than just new track, the Jonathon Rail Spur lays a rock-solid foundation for long-term operational resilience and growth. By improving logistical efficiency and reducing transportation impacts, this investment helps pave the way for continued success and prosperity for Pete Lien & Sons, Inc.
